Automated Pipeline Welding - Staffing and Training
PAE can offer experienced auto welding personnel for your projects, and we can train your staff to operate and maintain automatic welding equipment.
Automatic Welding Training
In recognition of the growing need for trained automatic welding operators and maintenance technicians, PAE has teamed with Vermaat Technics B.V. to offer state-of-the-art pipe welding technology for pipeline construction onshore and offshore. PAE can offer experienced auto welding personnel for your projects, and we can train your staff to operate and maintain automatic welding equipment. Participants will get to train hands-on with our Vermaat Veraweld computer controlled equipment welding equipment.
The training will cover both the theory and practical aspects of automatic welding. Certificates of competency are issued to trainees who complete the course and are successfully tested. Training is also available for these skills to support pipelay operations, such as bevelling machine operators, fitters, pipe handlers, coaters and welders. Helper Courses are conducted at the PAE Welding Training and Testing Center in Singapore. Accommodation and catering is available.
Basic Entry Requirements
To qualify for the basic entry requirement for the Vermaat 'Veraweld' Dual Torch Automatic welding machine training, the welder must be a qualified 5G, 6G or 6GR welder and hold a valid welder certificate witnessed and endorsed by third party inspection company. A Welders Qualification Test witnessed by Lloyds shall be carried out if the above criteria is not met.
Training Phases
There are 3 phases of training for the Vermaat 'Veraweld' Dual Torch Automatic welding system:
- Phase I - Equipment Familiarization: Approximately seven days of training which covers both theory and practice. The operator will be familiarized with the set-up and operation of the Veraweld Dual Torch Automatic Welding Machine.
- Phase II - Narrow Groove Welding: Approximately one day of training. The operator will be exposed to actual welding conditions (pipe size, thickness, preheat & welding parameter) and the RT acceptance criteria under the guidance of the trainer.
- Phase III - Competency of Welding Operator: Approximately five days of practical training. The operator, under close supervision of the trainer, will perform the welding process with minimal guidance. This is to evaluate the competency of the operator, ascertain whether he is able to work independently and ensure his ability to make sound welds using approved welding procedures.
