Training & Capacity Building

As a leading provider of smart power services, PAE is proud to offer its expertise in training and capacity-building to contribute to the civil infrastructure of many destabilized regions. With the in-country expertise that we’ve developed over the years, we’re able to tailor training curriculums to specific regions, often using a “train the trainer” approach that empowers local teams to sustain the mission after our contract close and achieve lasting success. Our programs include specialized military and police training, as well as corrections and judicial-focused training, all of which combine to build a strong foundation for civil infrastructure and advance host-country capacity.

National Army and Police Training

In support of the Africa Peacekeeping Program (AFRICAP), PAE provided assistance to the Government of Liberia by training and equipping a professional, armed military force, as part of the Security Sector Reform project. Throughout the timeframe of this project, PAE was responsible for feeding, training and equipping a brigade within the Armed Forces of Liberia. Military members were trained in military strategy as well as techniques for supporting civil action; members of the Armed Forces of Liberia renovated a hospital in Monrovia, completed basic medical training and constructed a bridge, among other activities. By the end of the program, the brigade trained by PAE was capable of supporting their combat and civil military obligations to the Armed Forces of Liberia.

Civil Infrastructure

In 2006, PAE began its support of the Afghanistan Corrections System Support Program (CSSP), on behalf of the U.S Department of State. The mission for the CSSP is to assist the Afghanistan Ministry of Justice Prison Administration in expanding Afghan capacity for the effective care, custody, treatment and rehabilitation of persons detained and incarcerated within the Afghanistan criminal justice system. PAE provides corrections training, which includes subjects such as corrections management, budgeting, records maintenance, disturbance control, prisoner transportation, inmate services, facilities design and maintenance, and probation and parole. Through the work performed on CSSP, PAE is helping to create the first professional, accountable and centralized corrections system in Afghanistan.
